Community Health Research Advisory Group

Community Health is very excited to be establishing its first Community Health Research Advisory Group – a group of consumers who will contribute to deciding what research we should do and how we should do it.

About Community Health

Community Health provides Child Health Nurse appointments (Purple Book), immunisation services and school health services for children and young people living in Perth. Community Health also provides assessment, early intervention and treatment services to children with developmental delay or difficulty through its Child Development Service.

As part of providing these important services, Community Health is involved in research that aims to further improve services and outcomes for families. Research projects range from improving pathways for the diagnosis of ADHD, developing community-based healthy lifestyle programs and exploring how we can better work with families.

About the Research Advisory Group

The Research Advisory Group will be involved in:

  • Planning what research Community Health should be focused on, alongside staff from Community Health
  • Advising on how to promote research projects amongst families
  • Giving ideas and feedback on research projects

What do you need to be involved?

  • Experience using Community Health Services – this might include Community Health Nursing (child health assessments), Child Development Service, Immunisation, School Health Services or with services provided by our Aboriginal or Refugee Health Teams.
  • An understanding of how research can make a difference in children’s and families’ lives.

It would also be good to be able to:

  • give constructive feedback
  • develop and share creative ideas
  • make decisions and come to shared agreements as part of a group.

Meetings will be every 2-3 months and will be an hour long.

You will be remunerated $35 for every meeting you attend.

The meetings will be held at our building in Mill Street in Perth City, with good public transport links nearby, but there will also be the option to attend online.
