Initial Registration scholarships are available for those studying to gain an initial qualification as an enrolled nurse, registered nurse or midwife.
Enrolled nurse
Applicants for an enrolled nurse scholarship will be studying a Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing).
Scholarships are available to students who have successfully completed semester 1 of a Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing) at a Western Australian Vocational Education and Training Institution.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are eligible to apply for a scholarship from the commencement of semester 1 of a Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing).
Enrolled nurse to registered nurse conversion
Scholarships are available to qualified enrolled nurses working in WA Health undertaking a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) degree, or equivalent, to convert their enrolled nurse qualification to registered nursing.
WA Health enrolled nurses converting to registered nursing can apply for a scholarship from commencement of their course.
Applicants must be employed as a WA Health enrolled nurse to be eligible for this scholarship.
Registered nurse and midwife
Scholarships are available for applicants studying to become a registered nurse or midwife who have successfully completed semesters 1 and 2 of a Bachelor of Science (Nursing), Bachelor of Science (Midwifery) or dual degree.
When courses are completed on a part-time basis, Initial Registration scholarships can only be applied for once the total equivalent of a full-time study load of eight units has been completed.
WA Health registered nurses studying Initial Registration midwifery can apply for a scholarship from the commencement of their course. Please refer to the ‘Targeted Scholarship’ section of this webpage for more information.
Registered nurse
For those who are studying to complete a:
- Bachelor of Science (Nursing)
- Bachelor of Science (Nursing) Honours program
- Graduate Entry Masters in Nursing program.
Midwife
For those who are studying to complete a:
- Bachelor of Science (Midwifery)
- Bachelor of Science (Midwifery) Honours program
- Graduate Diploma of Midwifery or Master of Clinical Practice (Midwifery). These courses are for qualified WA Health registered nurses seeking an initial registration qualification as a midwife.
