The Office of Medical Research and Innovation (OMRI) provides policy and funding support for health and medical research and innovation, for both WA Health and the wider WA health and medical research and innovation sector, and supports the Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund's operations.
The key functions of OMRI are:
- guide, inform and promote collaboration across the WA health and medical research and innovation sector
- develop strategic research and innovation policy
- provide intellectual property (IP) management support for WA Health (including advice on seed funding and possible commercialisation of new technologies and other research outputs)
- support the WA Health research governance framework, including ethics and governance processes, clinical trials initiatives, education and ICT support
- administer the WA Child Research Fund which is co-funded by the WA State Government and Channel 7 Telethon Trust
- administer the FHRI Fund's Programs and Initiatives
- support the operational requirements of the FHRI Fund.
