About SiREN
SiREN is the WA Sexual Health and Blood-borne Virus Applied Research and Evaluation Network.
SiREN is coordinated by the Collaboration for Evidence, Research and Impact in Public Health (CERIPH) based at Curtin University.
SiREN' services include:
- providing tailored project planning, evaluation and research support
- undertaking applied research and evaluation
- identifying and promoting opportunities for collaboration
- developing research and evaluation skills
- sharing research and evaluation evidence.
SiREN maintains a FREE network of around 300 professionals working in the sexual health and blood-borne virus (BBV) space. Through this network SiREN shares the latest sexual health and BBV evidence, news, events, jobs, funding opportunities and more. For more information about SiREN check out their website here (external site) and join SiREN's free network.
SiREN aims to:
- promote and stimulate opportunities for collaboration between WA sexual health and blood‑borne virus service providers and researchers
- translate research findings into evidence-based practice
- foster links nationally with other sexual health and blood-borne virus research centres e.g. (Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society [ARCSHS], The Kirby Institute, the Centre for Social Research in Health [CSRH] and South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute [SAHMRI]).
The objectives of SiREN are to:
- identify sexual health and BBV research and evaluation projects for priority populations within WA
- develop partnerships between WA-based researchers, Sexual Health and blood-borne Virus Program and the national sexual health and BBV research centres
- develop and enhance partnerships between government and non-government service providers, researchers and policy makers working towards the prevention and control of Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs) and BBVs within WA
- contribute to an evidence base to inform the Department of Health WA's policy and decision making for the prevention and control of STIs and BBVs within WA
- contribute to the national sexual health and BBV research agenda, in particular development of the national STI, hepatitis and HIV strategies.
