Concession parking

What is concession parking?

The Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) concession parking scheme offers eligible patients and families discounted parking rates in some car parks at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre (QEIIMC).

The scheme is designed to help the families of patients whose complex healthcare requirements mean they attend the hospital frequently.

Eligible families will pay a reduced rate of $5 per day for concession parking at PCH. Permits are restricted to one per family per day.

Who is eligible to access PCH’s concession parking scheme?

Concession parking at PCH is available to families who meet specific eligibility criteria (see table below) and is restricted to visitor car parks that use a post-pay system. Currently these are the PCH Basement Car Park and the QEIIMC Multi-deck Car Park.

Inpatients (admitted patients)

Eligible for concession from day 1 onwards

  • Patient Assisted Travel Scheme eligible patients
  • ACROD permit holders

Eligible for concession from day 3 onwards

  • All Concession and Health Care card holders issued by an Australian National or State Government

Eligible for concession from day 5 onwards

  • All inpatients from day 5 of the single admission

Outpatients (non-admitted patients)

  • Four or more outpatient appointments in 28 days per family (including siblings)
  • ACROD permit holders

Exclusion

Parents already receiving parking rights at Ronald McDonald House are excluded from receiving parking concession parking subsidy.

I had concession parking at PMH. Will I be eligible for the scheme at PCH?

Most families who received concession parking at PMH will continue to be eligible at PCH. If you do not meet the above criteria and this causes hardship, please speak to a member of your child’s treating team.

How do I apply for concession parking at PCH?

Request a concession parking approval slip from the medical, nursing, allied health or clerical staff in the clinical area your child is attending or admitted to. A staff member will assess your eligibility and, if your request is approved, will give you a slip to present to a PCH Information Officer at the Information Desk on Ground Level for validation.

Depending on your child’s expected length of stay, approval for concession parking may be provided for up to seven consecutive days. After this time, a new approval will be required.

If you require concession parking after-hours (outside business hours and on weekends), only a single ticket can be allocated at a time.

When PCH Information Desk is open (6:30am – 9pm every day)

  1. Take a ticket on entry to the PCH Basement car park or Multi-deck car park.

  2. Before leaving the clinical area you have attended, request a concession parking approval slip from a member of your child’s treating team.

  3. Present the signed concession parking approval slip to an Information Officer at the PCH Information Desk to have your ticket validated.

  4. Take your validated ticket to the car park and insert the ticket as per the normal process.

  5. The parking ticket pay station will read the validated bar code and request payment for the concession amount.

  6. Pay, collect your ticket from the machine and exit the car park.

After-hours (9pm – 6:30am every day)

After-hours approval is only for a single day concession ticket.

  1. Take a ticket on entry to the PCH Basement car park or Multi-deck car park.

  2. Before leaving the clinical area you have attended, request a concession parking approval slip from a PCH staff member.

  3. The staff member will notify the Hospital Clinical Manager (HCM) and complete a concession parking approval slip.

  4. The HCM will attend the clinical area and provide a pre-validated concession ticket to the parent/carer in exchange for their current parking ticket.

  5. The concession ticket will remain valid up to midnight of the day it is issued.

  6. Take your validated ticket to the car park and insert the ticket as per the normal process.

  7. The parking ticket pay station will read the validated bar code and request payment for the concession amount.

  8. Pay, collect your ticket from the machine and exit the car park.
