Psychiatric In-reach Team
Who we are
The Perth Children's Hospital Psychiatric In-reach Team (PPIRT) is comprised of:
- child and adolescent psychiatrists
- psychiatry registrars
- specialist mental health nurses and
- an Aboriginal Mental health worker.
The team provides specialist psychiatric advice and support to PCH clinicians, patients and their families on how to manage the patient’s mental health needs.
Services we provide
PPIRT works with a patient’s treating and multi-disciplinary team to provide:
- Specialist psychiatric assessment and risk assessment.
- Expert advice and support on complex presentations.
- Referral to and/or liaison with other resources within the hospital or in the community for extended treatment, if required.
How to refer
Referrals to PPIRT are made by a treating paediatrician or surgeon with consent from the patient’s legal guardian.
