Our research partners

Our research partners

The Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) is proud of our strong research partnerships with research institutes and funding providers.

The opening of Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) and the relocation of Telethon Kids Institute to within the PCH building in 2018 has provided a unique opportunity to embed research into the new hospital and wider health service while building the research capacity across CAHS.

PCH's co-location on the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre site (QEIIMC) in Nedlands alongside other hospital and research institutes provides us with an integrated research centre enabling strengthened relationships between researchers, students, academics and clinicians.

Research collaborators

Child health research is often done in collaboration with a research or academic institution. CAHS researchers or clinicians may hold affiliation with or work closely with a research team at one of these institutes:
  • Telethon Kids Institute
  • University of Western Australia, Medical School (Division of Paediatrics)
  • Curtin University, Faculty of Health Sciences
  • University of Notre Dame, School of Medicine
  • Edith Cowan University, Biomedical Science
Our research can also be done as part of large multi-centre projects across Australia or internationally. To ensure the safety of our patients and families, any research that is performed at one of our sites will always have specific ethics and governance approval before commencing.

Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation

We are grateful for our long term relationship with the Perth Children's Hospital Foundation which currently provides more than $1.25 million in research grant funding annually, as well as supporting the annual Child and Adolescent Health Service Research Symposium.

Telethon 7 Perth

We are grateful for the funding support of Telethon 7 Perth which enables additional research projects and research support services at CAHS. The Telethon Trust also supports research fellowships for medical, nursing and allied health staff and has more recently contributed to research infrastructure for CAHS, including the establishment of the Child Health Research Strategic Council in 2015.
