Who we are

The PCH Speech Pathology department provides specialist services for infants, children and adolescents who have communication and/or swallowing difficulties. We see both inpatients and outpatients who have been referred to us for assessment and management.

Our team is part of PCH’s Allied Health services.

Services we provide

  • Individual and group consultations for communication, feeding and swallowing disorders
  • Second-opinion appointments
  • Training and support for patients, parents and caregivers, including helping to establish alternative communication methods if required
  • Evaluation and advice to promote safe feeding and adequate hydration and nutrition for infants
  • Collaboration with other health professionals including multidisciplinary specialist diagnostic clinics (such as the Videofluoroscopy Swallow Clinic) and complex case management clinics (such as the Airway Voice Swallow Clinic and Cleft Lip and Palate Clinic).
