Day Treatment Unit

Who we are

The Day Treatment Unit (DTU), located on Level 1 of PCH, provides same-day care for outpatients and inpatients as an alternative to overnight hospital care.

We are part of PCH’s Ambulatory Care Services, which focus on avoiding or reducing hospital admissions and emergency presentations, and decreasing the length of time children need to stay in hospital.

Services we provide

The DTU provides same-day patient consultations, investigations, post-sedation care, procedures, medical reviews, monitoring and treatments across a broad spectrum of clinical specialties and services. Common procedures in the DTU include infusions, allergy testing and medical reviews.

Our 30-bay unit has been designed with a feeling of openness combined with privacy when required. It includes:

  • treatment rooms for consultations, examinations and minor procedures
  • consult rooms for private consultation and examination of patients
  • multiple-bay rooms
  • single-bed rooms
  • an open treatment area with chairs

The Haemodialysis Unit, Hospital in the Home (HiTH) and Post-Acute Care (PAC) are co-located in the DTU.
