Palliative Care

Who we are

The WA Paediatric Palliative Care Service offers holistic and compassionate care to children and their families who live in Western Australia with a life-limiting condition.

Palliative Care is a unique clinical service that provides support to children, parents and carers, as well as clinical staff and community-based services.

Our team of doctor, nurses, social worker and a secretary work closely with the child’s clinical team.

Services we provide

We aim to provide advice, support and liaison for children and families, their health providers and community services.

WA Palliative Care also:

  • provides specialist resources, education and support for health professionals caring for children with palliative care needs
  • gives advice regarding management of symptoms such as pain, breathing difficulties, nausea and many more
  • enables children with life-limiting illnesses to be cared for in the most appropriate place (such as the home or hospital)
  • support children at the end of their life and their families in bereavement.
