Who we are

The Endocrinology and Diabetes Department provides a statewide multi-disciplinary service for children and adolescents in Western Australia with diabetes, endocrine (hormone) disorders and complicated obesity.

Services we provide

We provide inpatient and outpatient services, and regional outpatient clinics. Our team comprises specialist doctors and nurses, social workers, dietitians, psychologists, physiotherapists and school liaison teachers. 

The Department is made up of three services:

Diabetes Service

The Diabetes service provides statewide, specialist multidisciplinary care to all children (from birth to 18 years) and their families, with all forms of diabetes.

Our team is dedicated to helping families living with diabetes to lead fulfilling and healthy lives, and we provide online information and resources for patients and families.

Endocrinology service

The Endocrinology service provides in hospital care for patients and ongoing outpatient clinical care.

Healthy Weight Service

The Healthy Weight Service provides care to children and adolescents with severe and complicated obesity. 
 

 

Research

Meet the team

Emergency

If your child is experiencing a diabetic or other emergency, either:

  • telephone 000 for an ambulance;
  • attend the Emergency Department at PCH or your nearest hospital; or 
  • telephone PCH on 6456 2222 and ask for the on-call endocrinologist. 

Hours

Inpatient: 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Outpatient: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Healthy Weight Service: Wednesday morning and Thursday afternoon.

Location

Endocrinology and Diabetes inpatient services:

  • Paediatric – Ward 2A
  • Adolescent – Ward 4A 

Endocrinology and Diabetes Outpatient Clinics:

  • General outpatients – Clinic D, Level 1
  • Adolescent Diabetes – Clinic G, Level 1
  • Healthy Weight Service – Clinic D, Level 1
